The students are off-and-running with their architectural designs. These photographs are all drafts, as the work continues throughout the week.
First, look at the way that August designed a gondola (or cable car) to ferry people up to his sacred space. This is such an original detail, and I can imagine that the experience of riding upwards, towards the sky, could have an impact on a person visiting this space.
Next, Ethan figured out a way to design flying buttresses from scratch. (This is not an easy task!) Also, I love the multiple layers of crisscrossing segments, and the way that the roof opens up to the sky.
Sophia is trying multiple techniques for building a waterfall that will cascade from the top of her building. I love the way she is maintaining a positive attitude despite the setbacks and challenges!

Scott is putting together a wonderful combination of shapes and colors. Notice the complex texture of his dome, which contrasts beautifully with the rose window at the front.
Violet is thinking deeply about the relationship of her building to the natural environment. Notice the way the wooden floor connects the human building with the natural land that surrounds it.
